  • Today's the 40th anniversary of my 1st visit to MAN. Got false expectations of how busy it was as it was packed with diversions.
So.. using my brother's patented "Streetview" test on determining trips, no longer off to Berlin in January but to Amsterdam instead
Tale of the daytrip tape. 860+ miles on bus/train and 63 miles walked. On a scale of 1 to 10 on how tired I am, I think I'd say 13 or 14.

A man after my own heart. I walk most days and do a 10-15 mile walk at least once a week, often more than once. I walk a minimum of four marathons every month of the year (spread over the month that is not a marathon in one go).

I should have said a minimum of the equivalent of four marathons a month.

I'm very impressed by that! The shortest walks were 2 lots of 5 miles which was Friday and Sunday, with London being on the Saturday. No point in exhausting myself before the big trip or the day before getting back to work.
Not going to be put off my London trip tomorrow

All fine. nothing noticeable extra security wise in the city centre apart from fencing down some of the roads down to the main tourist destinations. Got back home at around midnight
3rd 4.45am departure from my flat for a daytrip. Not quite grasped the idea of having a relaxing week off.
Day 1 of holiday. So... on a train at 6am to go to Blenheim Palace. Up 2 hours earlier than usual... asking myself why!
Nearly prepped up for daytrip mode next week, with 1st trip to Scotland in the offing. Must find the Kerr tartan should I go
Love my phone deciding to freeze, reboot and freeze in the reboot. 3rd straight day of waiting for the battery to drain to charge it back up
going to have another photo feature on National Trust social media channels. Time to give up the day job and go professional?

2 overseas trips in prospect next year. To paraphrase JFK , I could say "I am a doughnut" and to the "homeland"

no, my brother dropped it in conversation casually yesterday. The Peru trip was meant to be February but now September/October and Berlin 1st week in January. He said ts roughly £1500ish and £300ish respectively.
54th annual family picnic done and dusted. Not for the 1st time, passers-by wanted to join in given the amount of food brought

Sounds good. Why 54th? Is this a trans-generational event?

It is. Started off with my mum and dad, one of my aunts and a family friend and got bigger...now it's a total of 23. Takes a bit of co-ordinating. The 40th got into the local press and the 50th saw Lyme Park erect a special marquee for us (all bar 1 have been there).
RIP Bradley Lowery. No child should have to go through a horrible disease like cancer.

It's a dreadful disease for anyone but for a young child it's almost unthinkable. I'm very impressed with Mr Defoe. He contributed greatly to Bradley's enjoyment of the short time he had left.RIP.
Would have been rude to ignore £22 return fare to London from Manchester on Virgin Trains

No way would I be paying their normal prices! Every time I've been to London, it's been a sale price. Next time, i may go for the 1st class option at £60 return
Got to love living near Old Trafford in gig season. Radiohead is on tonight.

yes! Just have to swing open my balcony door and you can hear it from a mile and a half away.
Always awkward selecting around 300 photos to fill a photo album when you've taken about 15,000 in the last 3 years.
World Taekwondo Federation has renamed itself to just World Taekwondo. The age of abbreviations just claimed it's 1st "victim". WTF!
Yay! Can finally look forward to having time off work. 16 days to take but not able to use weeks at the beginning or end of months

Got 15 days booked now. Became a bit more restricted in that my holidays were not allowed to clash with the holidays of 4 people in different departments as work needed to make sure the office would run smoothly
