Does anyone have any indication when the next of the original 733's might be withdrawn from use and which might be next?

Article from the Spanish journal this week Tourinews regarding Jet2. Article translated using Google translate so hopefully it will be understandable.

The Alicante-Elche Airport will host the central offices for Spain of Jet2.com.

Under the lease contract, the airline will have a space of 664 square meters in the former Terminal 2. The agreement is for a term of five years renewable to five more.

Terminal 2 of the Alicante-Elche Airport was built in 2006 for an amount of 6 million euros. It was operative as an auxiliary passenger terminal between January 2007 and March 2011, while the New Terminal Area was being built. Currently, the T2 is intended for use by private jets or light aircraft and internal services.

Now he wants to give a boost to its use as offices (1,634 m2 available) and Jet2.com has been the company that has opened the way by implementing both its headquarters and a training center.

The airline, based in Leeds (England), has been operating for 15 years in the Levantine airport, where last year it managed more than one million passengers (+ 38%). The Alicante airfield was also the first chosen by the 'low cost' to open its first base of operations outside the United Kingdom.

Jet2.com, owned by the Jet2 tour operator, connects different UK airports with 15 Spanish airports: Alicante, Almeria, Barcelona, Gerona, Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Lerida, Menorca, Malaga, Murcia, Palma, Reus and Tenerife.

Yeap Jet2 have bought office space in the terminal 2 for its Alicante based flight & Cabin crew, Engineers, ground crew and operations staff.
They will also be able to train up locally based Spanish staff, instead of having them travel to training facility in Bradford.

It also begs the question! Are Jet2 looking for fallback options if we end up with a No Deal hard Britext in March next year??

Does anyone know anything more about the Jet2 bird strike on Saturday? Some friends of mine saw a Jet2 on the runway with fire appliances around it. I was then told yesterday that the Amsterdam had returned to base with a big dent in the wing. Can anyone provide any more details?

Cant see it has anything to do with Brexit, more a commercial decision to handle its Spanish business.
Jet2 share holding is over 50% british and therefore would be unable to fly as a european carrier after 29th March.
I am a shareholder in both Jet2 and Ryanair and have to sell my shareholding in Ryanair by the 29th March (already received the statutory letter from Ryanair). To remain a european carrier Ryanair must have over 50%+ european shareholders on its books, needs to move 17% of existing shareholders out the company.
Its no wonder MOL unhappy about Brexit, if he has any plans to fly direct to america from the u.k. they are now dead in the water under E.U. regulations, once u.k. no longer a member of the e.u.
The only issue for Jet2 may be its flights starting in Spain, all flights may have to commence in the british isles. I have already bought 6 flights to and from u.k. to europe after march 2019, the Spanish tourist industry anxious no roadblocks put in place for tourists to spain.
Hopefully someone will sit on Martin Selmayr to ensure this takes place.

Is G-CELV undergoing test flights today? FR24 showed her flying from LBA out over Ireland and back again this morning, and similarly this afternoon with a flight from LBA towards Newcastle and out over the North Sea before returning to Leeds.

LV was on test flights yesterday but she is back in service on the Naples flight this morning.

Oh no, Yet another embarrassing news article for Jet2 published on the BBC News website today. I hope they get this sorted and nipped in the bud quickly, otherwise it could turn ugly.

Jet2 asks boy in mobility scooter to 'prove disability'

_102809721_jackjohnsoncrfamily.jpg

Alex Johnson said her son had a "complete meltdown" when they returned home

A 10-year-old disabled boy was made to prove he had a disability when an airline's administrative error put his flight in jeopardy, says his mother.

Alex Johnson said she was "appalled" with the "humiliating" treatment her son received at Split Airport, Croatia, getting a Jet2 flight home on Tuesday.

She said Jack, of Wigan, Greater Manchester, who has Duchenne muscular dystrophy, was "mortified".

A spokesman for Jet2 said the firm was "extremely sorry".

Jack is the son of former Wigan Warriors, London Broncos, Castleford Tigers and Salford City Reds rugby league player Andy Johnson.

'So embarrassed'

Mrs Johnson said Jack and the rest of the family made "great memories" in Croatia but the holiday was "ruined" when they tried to check in on their return flight home to Leeds-Bradford Airport.

She said although there was no issue on the outbound flight, staff at Split Airport appeared to have no record of Jack's disability and two days' notice had been required to put a motorised scooter on the aircraft.

Mrs Johnson said she was then asked in front of Jack: "Do you have proof your son is disabled?"

She said she showed his blue badge in "disbelief".

Almost two hours later the family were allowed on the return flight.

"Jack doesn't like any fuss or made to feel different," she added.

"He was so embarrassed."

The following day Mrs Johnson said her son had a "complete meltdown", which she blames on the trauma at the airport.

She said: "I want lessons to be learned and all staff to get training to ensure this never happens again to another disabled person.

"They should be treated with dignity."

Jet2 has apologised for the "distressing experience".

"Although this is an isolated incident, we have learnt a number of lessons and are we are urgently reviewing all our procedures to ensure that this does not happen again."

Not wishing to defend Jet2, usually in my 6 decades of passing through airports with disabled passengers, these issues usually in the hands of airport operators not airline.
We need an ambuliftt and know requested through airline web site, yet know like recently when checking in Ibiza, iberia desk said booked, yet when special assistance arrived said not booked, this happens at least every 4 or 5 trips.
Certainly these facilities are booked on the web page when buying tickets and when you book in, they always cross check for this journey and your return, when it fails, both the airline and the airport operator blame the other.

In fairness Jet2 are in the hands of handling agents here, and we all know what they are like..Menzies springs to mind. When you bear in mind how many passengers they are handling at peak times, things will inevitably go wrong. Its awful when they do and Jet2 need to enquire quickly what and why it went wrong. But worth bearing in mind that the vast majority of these requests are sorted as they should be.

I thought Jet2 handled themselves, have I got that wrong ?

Here’s how Jet2's Leeds/Bradford winter 2018/19 schedule is looking so far. We will continue to see flights operated by based fleet mixed of Boeing 737-300, Boeing 737-800 & Boeing 757-200 aircraft

There is no point anybody blaming the airline. Naturally enough though people will blame whoever they come in contact with at the airport and with the airline they are flying with.

And equally naturally, our ignorant journalists will point the finger at the airline also without bothering to establish the actual facts or situation.

Without wishing to cause alarm for those who (like me) love this aircraft, it is being stated on the Jet2 ***Links to other Social Media platforms are not permitted***- group (so far without contradiction) that G-LSAB won't be flying again and is being stripped for parts, presumably at MAN. It doesn't appear to have flown for a few weeks now as far as I can make out, although I haven't seen anything to say why, or what the issue is. I am hoping this isn't true. Anyone heard anything?

My contact deep in Jet2 states that G-LSAB is due to fly ~ 3 September so its premature demise is unfounded.
