5. Bradford City 19,787
6. Hull City 15,622
7. Barnsley 13,704
8. Rotherham United 8,514
9. Doncaster 8,213
10. York City 2,755
11. FC Halifax 1,726
12. Harrogate Town 1,134
13. Scarborough Athletic 1,106
14. Guiseley 870
15. Bradford Park Avenue 495
16. Farsley Celtic 224
17. Sheffield FC 224
18. Ossett Town 214
19. Brighouse Town 198
20. Goole AFC 186

I think Leeds United contribute their fair share and their history still counts for a fair bit - their global appeal is far greater than any of the other names on that list. Bradford didn't spend long enough in the top division, nor were they successful enough, to really raise their profile to the level of that of Leeds. The same goes for the Sheffield clubs, Hull and Barnsley. Huddersfield are a small team that have a long way to go before they get anything like the attention of their local rivals. Whichever way you look at it, Leeds is the football club that pulls in the punters in this part of the world and it is their prerogative to market themselves in whichever way they choose. I can't even think of any shops in Yorkshire that sell every football top, let alone one that would set up at LBA. Football tops in airports are likely really to only appeal to visitors to Yorkshire rather than the local population. With that in mind, it would probably be more profitable to sell Manchester United merchandise. Either way, I think the only way you would get a variety of football tops would be if they were in the 'touristy' bit of the duty free shop. Even then, I doubt they would sell much.

The hoardings around the new Starbucks are currently being removed and there is a film crew (possibly ITV) onsite filming the reveal.

The Airport has announced on its website that 2x more additional retail outlets are being built within the Terminal building on the first floor of the departure lounge opposite the WH Smiths outlet, (This is where the old Yorkshire Premiere Lounge use to be situated). It looks like works commenced last week beginning April 18th.

Anyone know who's taking up these retail outlets?

I would remove all retail options, excluding food and drink, just encourages more rubbish to be taken on the plane.
More seating, proper baby changing areas, breast feeding areas for mothers, not shut away in some windowless room as my daughter asked to go at LBA.
LBA last year came 20th in the u.k. league for a family friendliness got only 3 out of 10 which is no surprise.
Hopefully the new extension will resolve some of the present issues, but as LBA mainly a holiday passenger airport I am surprised in the nearly 50 years I have taken children and grandchildren though, how few if any facilities for babies, young mothers and toddlers etc.

A lot of people actually breast feed in public now and good on them they shouldn't have to hide feeding their baby. Also i wouldn't call it more rubbish on the aircraft when theres bins and cabin crew come around with bin bags twice on flights usually. Without the shops what would we do in the airport sit down for a hour on steel benches? I would much rather look at the shops and have something to eat to properly start a holiday but thats just me...

My daughter at LBA feeding in the terminal with a shawl covering the baby, was asked to move to the toilets as passengers felt uncomfortable with what she was doing.
When we started our family, 50 years ago this year, how times fly, , breast feeding in public did not raise a stir, nowadays always at least one person will object.
The rubbish I meant was duty free bags, which then are attempted to be put in the already full over head lockers.
There is too much taken on to planes at the moment, on a recent jet2 flight as disabled passengers we were boarded last and told by cabin staff as we exited the ambulift no storage space for our cases and they would be placed in the hold.
AS one of our cases is full of medical equipement I pay £7 to ensure this and one other bag can stay in the cabin. Also I pay for seat reservation to ensure we sit near the front of the cabin.
Advising staff we had paid the bag levy and so had all the others on the ambulift, 10 cases were dumped in the toilet and cockpit doorway.
It took around 20 minutes and some very upset passengers to get some bags in the hold, I bet if you had removed all the duty free bags from the bins, plenty of space, (no one takes any notice of no liquids in overhead bins)

She absolutely should not have been asked to do that. I would recommend you raise a complaint about this - either LBA have very outdated policies or a member of staff was going rogue.

Agreed. It's actually against the law if she was forced (The Equality Act 2010) https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/pregnancy-and-baby/breastfeeding-in-public/

To tell her to move to the toilet is particularly demeaning.
Need to be fair to the airport.
A passenger stood in front of my daughter and shouted at her to stop feeding her baby in public.
People joined both sides of the arguement, a staff member came and to defuse the situation, requested my daughter to move to a toilet or maybe a room, my daughter did not responded and just kept quiet and carried on feeding.
Knowing the Quality Act 2010 for my own business, I suggested to the lady maybe she should ask for guidance as I thought my daughter was in the right and it was the lady complaining who was in the wrong and could she move everyone who was know crowding round away to give the baby some space.
This lit the blue touch paper as the lady thought I was telling her to move.
Fortunatley before the LBA staff member had to make any decision an announcement of a gate opening which thankfully was for the lady who was upset, who stormed off.
We did not complain as the member of staff put in a difficult position and chose a cause of action to part the two parties a sensible act coming straight into the conflict.
She did ask her superior to come to the scene and we all agreed the staff member in an impossible situation, faced with someone who was intolerant about the situation of breast feeding and my daughter who had tried to hide her self away in a corner, cover her baby, but only challenged when she moved the baby across to the other side to feed, well in to the feeding cycle.
If LBA had proper changing and feeding facilities and play area all would be solved, I took my grandson in the gents in the baggage area a few weeks ago and no nappy changes facilities, I had to change him on the seats outside, gives me an excuse next time we arrive, but not sure the situation in the ladies.

I imagine Jet2 would be more than willing to provide some Jet2 branded kids play toys. I'm not too sure the airport would be so keen to give up some premium space to offer that type of facility though?

On another note, I see Manchester airport has joined Birmingham airport on a water bottle refill scheme. The scheme allows departing passengers to refill their water bottles after they have passed the security process.

I don't think it will be long before LBA and other airports are forced to follow suit given the amount of waste produced by the confiscation of full bottles at the CSZ. LBA will be reluctant to offer free drinking water as the sales of water through the airport retail outlets will be substantial.
