Surprisingly this huge advertisement is no more. I passed by today and it had gone meaning it was displayed for something under four weeks. With the service beginning next week I thought it would have remained at least until then. The derelict hotel on which the advert was diaplayed is currently advert-free. Before the Qatar advert there was a big advert for Great Western Railway there.
Surprising could be a very expensive advertising space hence only the 4 week run.
With the launch now 6 days away and no doubt lots of press invited for the inaugural flight i'm wondering if it will feature on the BBC and ITV versions of the South West regional news?

I doubt it. It's not local news of interest to the majority of viewers in the area. The new BRS master plan public consultation process received minimal coverage on the local tv news when it was announced.

The Bristol Post might have something on the launch given it and the main South Wales newspapers are all part of the Trinity Mirror group. I think that the Bristol Post did highlight the news when Qatar first announced the service a year ago, more from the point of view of BRS missing out.

The Temple Gate hoarding has been gone since April 15th
Thanks Red Flyer. This week was the first time I'd been there for a couple of weeks.

If your long haul destination was not the USA at present Jerry I suspect you might have been tempted with one of these.

Yes definitely!
I've noticed one thing and they don't seem to be advertising discounted Business Class tickets so hopefully that means the Business cabin is selling well.

I might well be out walking in the area of Weston-super-Mare on Tuesday. If the weather is fine and the active runway is 30 I shall be keeping a close watch for the A350 flying overhead in to CWL. I live about seven miles to the east of BRS and about a mile to the north of the approach for BRS runway 27. On fine days I often see BA aircraft flying nearby on their initial approach into CWL for the BAMC.

A few times with KLM and Flybe the route has taken me past BRS just to the south and on a good day you can see aircraft landing. I guess the route they operate will also depend on what runway is in use at BRS as well.

Apparently the runway in use could be runway 30 because of a westerly wind forecasted, though it could obviously change.

I did a posting saying that on average prices are £100 cheaper than Heathrow for the far East and Thailand does seem incredibly cheap.

Offer a few lead in fares and it makes ppl look at other routes that they offer. Most airlines do something like this. Fair play to them and wish the route well,or it will be use it or loose it and we don't want that.

It will take time to mature as a service. Many people have Heathrow as their default for long haul, hopefully those service will change people to having Cardiff as their default for long haul instead of Heathrow.
