I must say that when I realised that those" red prefabs" where for Jet2 it occurred to me that they were taking up valuable space for a westerly extension of the Terminal/and or apron space. In fact all that area behind is also relatively flat and would provide good extra apron space if only the existing buildings could be relocated.

Do we need more space......we are losing routes.
I think Jet2 would happily take up the space with aircraft rather than prefabs if the space was there. And the extra space may just attract another carrier. Not saying it will, but it might! We certainly won't be attracting airlines currently, at least not any that want to base at LBA with the limited parking space we have

And gaining some too!

What new weekly flight to Turin and 2x weekly to Krakrow, dose that really count?

Or are you counting the extra 1x weekly services added for summer 2019 by Thomas Cook (Enfidha), Tui (Antalya, Dubrovnik & Verona,) Jet2 (Izmir, Crete-Chania & Bourgas)

That's Unless you know something else which hasn't being announced yet?

I am counting all of them LBASpotter. I am sure that in total they will add up to more passengers than we have lost on the Aberdeen route. The point I am making is that we are actually gaining more new routes than we are losing, so it isn't quite a gloomy as we think.

The acquisition of all floors at The Mint was rumored some 3 months ago so it's good to see that has come to fruition.

Alongside the "red huts" aka Low Fare Finder House, they have the long term hanger space on lease at LBA, all of The Mint in Leeds CC, a training center in Bradford & hanger at MAN and inside said hanger they have another administrative office!

Surely Low Fare Finder House must be in it's swansong years now, I would imagine a term was in place for that plot of land and that will be up for negotiation - the airport will either want the space for its own needs or try bump up the lease. Imagine what you could do with all that space!!

It would be sad to see Jet2 no longer with it's head office at LBA however, it's still very cool to have the UK's 2nd Largest leisure operator based at LBA along with its operational offices overlooking the runway! Perhaps they will take a unit near the Hawthorne to maintain some presence?

As long as Jet2 continue to operate from LBA, which they will because they won't throw away what they have built up and know there is demand for, then I would be more than happy for any of their current office space at LBA to make way for further airport development, especially if this was to create apron space. Sentiment has to be over ruled by progress and logic. That all said, LBA don't want to be annoying Jet2 in any way as it wouldn't be where it is today without them.

Is the rumoured new Business Park for land behind the Travelodge still a possibility and if so would Jet2 want
new office space in this area. Granted, the runway and apron are a bit further away. What about the other businesses adjacent to the existing Low Fare House, are they cargo related?, do they need immediate access to the apron? or could they also be located in the new Business Park. If all that area was cleared it would open up a sizeable area for new aircraft parking spaces and/or new pier.

and jet2 wouldn,t be where they are now without LBA in there start up years.

I understand that all fights (whole fleet) operations and engineering is still organised at Low fare finder house. Plus its also home to Jet2 's LBA based crews, which includes the spare back ups.
So if they do move elsewhere, I'm sure they will want to remain close to the airfield.

It's a shame they can't just move them down to the East of the apron, or better still put a first floor on top of Hall B.

On top of B-Hall option

There’s also a large office for IT in Sheffield.

My understanding is that lffh won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. There are plans I believe to put in a lift and move a few things around as space is tight. Some offices that have just had a lick of paint down by the media building will also be taken.

It’s been known for a while ever since Asda left that Jet2 would be taking the whole mint building. Again this is for expansion not amalgamating the existing lffh operation into it.

For me I think you need the head office where there are good transportation options and unfortunately we know LBA is horrific so until that’s sorted most of the big meeting stuff will stay in the city.

Hopefully in the future a large purpose built HQ can be constructed around LBA.

:wtf:

The airport could consider flattening Wharfedale walk and building a better building with more floors there for them. No transitional slope to worry about there. Thats one way of moving them from LFFH.

G-JZHU gone tech in Mahon today. Was on the return to LBA, fully boarded and doors ready to close. Felt the plane rock from side after a loud thud. The starboard forward cargo hold door used for loading luggage received damage as the loader was withdrawing from the aircraft. Damage fully inspected by captain. Presumably unable to verify that the aircraft would maintain structural integrity at altitude. Without an immediate engineer present to confirm this, and with the crew rapidly running out of hours, standby aircraft and crew from Alicante arrived 3 hrs later. Original crew flew back with us in; captain and co pilot with the pax in main cabin and cabin crew on jump seats and in cockpit. Both sets of crew were great. Complimentary food and drink vouchers at Mahon and free snack box and drinks for every pax inflight back to Leeds. All in all, a good response from Jet2 unfortunately let down by shambolic arrangement by baggage handlers and ground transport at LBA. I have to say, it was quite sad leaving Mahon seeing G-JZHU sat on the tarmac all by itself. Wonder how long it will take to get back

Someone in Mahon is going to be in bother then, breaking a nearly new 737 won't go down well. Lets hope the damage is minor and there is no problem with the structural integrity of the airframe.
