On the other forum people are saying Tuesday is the day there will be an announcement.

The suspense! Aaaaargh :nailbiting:
I like your use of 'the other forum'. A while back, I watched a documentary about the House of Lords and they called the House of Commons 'The Other Place'. The same applies vice versa.

I'm sure that many posters on here read other aviation forums and will have noticed the growing speculation surrounding the future of Monarch.

Forums 4 Airports is a public forum and anyone is free to speculate here as they wish but I'd like to remind people that to us, it's a cancelled holiday, or some BHX routes now left unserved, but to thousands of Monarch employees it's the wage that pays the mortgage and feeds their children. I'm sure that much work is being done in the boardroom at Monarch HQ and we all hope that we see a positive outcome, it is undoubtedly a very worrying time and we must be sensitive to that.

All I will say is that I am 100% behind Monarch and I desperately hope that they have a long and bright future ahead of them. They are still my airline of choice (just checked in online for my flights in a few weeks) and I hope that they will be for many years to come (y)

Ray, Well written and agree 100%. We all need to bare this in mind that routes are chopped and changed but employees losing their livelihood is more detrimental.

Totally agree Ray. Whatever we may think of an airline...I am not a fan of Ryanair....but real people bust their socks off trying to make a success of things. Monarch will roll on and grow. It has adapted and like all airlines been down and back up again. Long live the Monarch.....and all other airlines.*

* except maybe Air Canada, who when the wife and I flew out to Vancouver on our honeymoon asked for the best seats "Certainly sir" but were given central aisle seats next to the toilets! Never forgiven for the most unromantic flight ever.

I hope this isnt true but even if it isnt, what the flippin heck are greybull playing at ? If last year wasnt enough it appears Monarch is back to where it was this time last year and if this continues for much longer, they will be the reason Monarch has failed. Sort it out and quick :banghead:

They are. They are trying to sell it. Ministers also wouldn't call a COBRA over Monarch. I'd take that with a pinch of salt personally.

Agreed, it seems to be lazy journalists slipping together the talk from the forums and making an article about it.

Hopefully the owners will put pay to these rumours next week fir the sake of all staff involved!!

But its the "negative" impact this is having on Monarch and all the lovely people who work for Monarch.

Whatever the outcome I suspect Greybull will have to bring forward it's announcement of intensions after press coverage like that. Personally I don't believe the story, only within the last couple of weeks has Greybull shown interest in buying Alitalia. I don't see that as a sign that the airline industry isn't for them.

Greybull are venture capitsts /investment company and as such exist to turn a profit although they do have a reputation for taking a longer term view which to an extent they have done so far with Monarch.

It's in there hands so we just have to wait for any announcement and hope it's positive as like others on here they are my airline of choice, booked BHX/LPA next spring and flown twice this year with them.

WISH THEM WELL

According to another article that I've just read, they have some sort of deadline that they need to meet by tonight. Not sure how credible the express or the article editor is, but this is what they had to say.
Express said:
Monarch has until tonight to prove it can meet the regulator’s demands with the Atol license due to expire on Sunday
Without an Atol license, the airline would have to stop offering, booking or received payments for package holidays immediately.
Surely this would have massive financial implications for the airline IF they are struggling, as the media are portraying them to be.
The article resembles the situation Monarch faced this time last year, will Greybull or another investor be forced to come to their aid again?

The holiday part of the company, the part requiring ATOL, now only referents 5% of the company. The renewal date for this is tonight.

We have zero reason to a) assume it's not going to be paid and b) if 5% of the business ended, it would not result in the collapse of the airline!!!

Not in itself but the negative publicity might.Monarch are not Ryan Air.The average person will read it as a license to operate full stop. This is how its reads in the press.

They would not be able to sell/operate the "monarch holidays" section of the business which requires ATOL protection as far as I'm aware.
