    Finally it has been confirmed.

I reported several months ago that "Project Apple" would be a big office LET. Brum on a role at the minuite, great to see (y)

That's quite amazing, when you consider cities like London, Paris and Frankfurt. Does this imply that real estate values in Birmingham are at a high?

I think that Hyatt is one of the best talks outside London, it's so American!

I believe Manchester will build one called St Jonhs which will have a similar feel, so I'm looking forward to it.

    Thanks for the photos, BrumX!

However, looking at this one and following the buildings lines from top to bottom makes it look like it's been built on the roundabout :wideyed:
(I think it's the trees that cause the illusion ;))

    Regards

Indeed it does look as if it is being built on the roundabout, however the site is very constrained and next week a 96metre tower will start climbing upwards.

This thread is very interesting for a variety of reasons and some of those reasons interlock between the city and the airport.

Planned and ongoing developments such as the move by HSBC to the city, the proposals for Arena Central 3 which could lead to HMRC establishing a significant presence in Brum and the possible but hopeful relocation of Channel 4, will mean that the highly qualified workforce these developments will bring, could give added stimulus to business travel to and from BHX.

These new positions being created are likely to be filled with people who travel frequently, and often in business class with tabs picked up by their employers. And all this is likely to be 'new' business. Add to this the already existing major international firms already established here such as JLR, then the coming three-four years could prove to be very interesting.

And to Brum X who provides a lot of the photographic and news announcements regarding these developments a big thank-you. Not all Brummies now live in the city and it this thread keeps us all up-to-date with what is going on.

That's all very well and true, but the challenge will be getting those frequent travelers to use BHX. A large amount of them will have previously been based in London and as such will be used to flying from London airports, in particular using LHR for long haul.

Equally thankful for the pictures of developments in Birmingham. Haven't been into the city for a while now and won't be able to for quite some time, so its always good to see whats going on. Keep up the good work Brum X (y)

That is the challenge for both the city and the airport. While they are working in London and living in or near the city, BHX has no chance of attracting this potential business: but now they will be working in Birmingham and, hopefully, re-locating their homes to the Midlands. there should be a greater chance. And remember, we are not talking of 'a few' people re-locating to Brum, we are talking of thousands, yes thousands....

Yes, it is a challenge, but one the airport, the city council, the wider metropolitan council and the businesses themselves have got to be drawn together to discuss.

This is Birmingham, some may love it, some may loathe it. Get over it.

Great picture of the centre of Brum and my, how it is changing......

Now a question. Clearly the BT tower is higher than any other surrounding building, but taking account of the contour levels in the centre will any of the developments that are planned or under construction challenge the BT tower for the highest point?

Yes the Proposed MODA Tower at 42 floors even though it will be around 125/130metres (Full planning app due any time now) and BT Tower is 152metres, as MODA tower will be located on Broad Street which is the highest part of the city centre will appear the same height as BT. (y)

You should beable to see the new MODA tower behind the Hyatt Hotel which is the first block just to the left of BT on that photo so we should have 2 buildings in that photo in the next 5 years that look the same height.

Shouldn't the MODA building be going in for planning soon?
