Good news ref the planned improvements.
Are there any plans for the baggage reclaim area to be extended?

So.was.at meeting tonight . Quite a lot of improvements to come, changes to eateries, bars etc. The border force area to be expanded plus work to baggage reclaimes. Will be in two parts to avoid busy times of year, so basically works going on in winter periods. New Jet2 ticket desk / offices/ crew room, check-ins and auto check ins. Solar farm construction will begin in new year. New security machines come into play in March. Improvements to arrivals with a new information desk going there, also the John Lennon Statue will be moved to arrivals.

Runway lighting was recently upgraded to LED.

Are the portacabin's still there? Usually around where the Ryanair flights board from?
I can't remember the gate numbers but this area of the airport really needs to be modernized.

There is a whole load of improvments over the next two years. New retail and dining new exec lounge. I can't imagine the FR gates are not getting attention.

This idea is being brought forward again by the current metro mayor ( who is up for election, very soon ). Whilst an extension to the Merseyrail network would be the desired solution, this could be a cheaper and quicker to arrange solution to improving access and speed to the airport.
