According to a poster on Wales Air Forum Flybe will be replacing one of the E195's with an E175 between the 15th October and 27th October. Reason is unknown. Maybe going to Stobart at SEN?
In a way it's a pity the E175 isn't staying as some of the routes are more suited to it and E175s are going to have to be based here in the long run when the 195's go back.

    More choice for business customers
Two recent airline announcements have seen a wealth of new choices open up to customers who travel from Cardiff across the UK for business.

This news comes as a direct response to calls from the local business community to increase the amount of frequent routes that operate from Cardiff.

Flybe has responded to market demand in South Wales by adding a second daily flight from Cardiff to Belfast City, making it all the more simple and straight forward to get to Northern Ireland by air for a day of meetings. This useful service will complement a wide choice of existing Flybe services that serve business customers all year round, including Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Berlin Tegel and Paris.

    Flight schedule from 29th October 2017 – 24th March 2018*:

    Mon-Fri
Departs Cardiff 0700 Arrives Belfast City 0805
Departs Belfast City 0835 Arrives Cardiff 0940

Departs Cardiff 1800 Arrives Belfast City 1910
Departs Belfast City 1935 Arrives 2045

*One way fares available for booking now at from £29.99 including taxes and charges.

In addition, Eastern Airways has entered into a new franchise partnership with Flybe, meaning all three routes served by Eastern Airways to Anglesey, Newcastle and Aberdeen are now bookable on Flybe.com.

Passengers making bookings for travel on or after 29 October can now book directly via Flybe.com. Those booking for travel on 28 October or before will continue to book at EasternAirways.com

Deb Barber, CEO of Cardiff Airport, commented: “It’s very promising to see our airlines both responding to market demand and working together to offer more choice.

Using air travel to travel across the UK is very useful for our business customers especially, whose busy schedules demand effective use of their time. Access to Belfast twice a day is ideal, with further daily flights to Anglesey, Newcastle and Aberdeen all bookable on Flybe.com.”

With Belfast going 12 weekly and also it becoming an E jet route it will be interesting to see what growth there will be on the route over the winter.

Whisperings are getting ever louder for a third E-Jet to be based at CWL for 2018.

Well fingers crossed it does happen and if it does i'd have thought Edinburgh would get extra flights maybe from the E jet and the Dash, also Rome and Paris would be good contenders for extra flights if they can get the slots.
If there is a 4th based aircraft coming for 2018 then it may be possible Flybe have some sort of deal lined up to operate routes on behalf or in cooperation with someone else especially if it's an E jet. I know they are going to be doing a charter for TOM out of SOU to MAH so it could be possible they do something similar for TCX. I'd have thought some more French routes would also be a possibility as well.
It makes you think if Flybe do continue to expand how large the base can get in the end.

According to BE's booking engine, it appears that for S18 the dash will be replaced by a E175. This will complement the 2 based E195's. Having a based E-jet fleet might help BE with their 'charter' plans for CWL.

That will be more effective for crew management won't it? They won't have to have one set of crews for the Q400 and another for E-jets. I assume the E195 and E175 are common type ratings for pilots. Furthermore, there are still passengers who are not keen on turbo-props, or 'propeller aircraft' as many would say.
I think that EXT currently has four based - three Q400s and one E195 so far as I know. EXT only has Flybe and Scilly Skybus for its scheduled flights though.

I've long thought that Flybe's aircraft size is the right fit for many of CWL's routes and I remember banging on about this several years ago when I used to contribute to a Wales aviation message board. So in my opinion three could be the start. I wouldn't like to suggest a maximum as that is dependent on so many things, some of which might not yet be known - to anyone, including the airline and the airport. Crikey, I'm beginning to sound like Donald Rumsfeld with his known knowns, known unknowns and unknown unknowns.

Well it is good news especially with it being a 175 as it may well suggest a further commitment beyond project Blackbird and it will make the base more logistically easier for Flybe as well.
I've had a look at some of the routes it will be operating on and it's down for TXL and MUC, DUB and CDG and ORK and EDI and BHD on various days of the week. DUB now has a Saturday morning flight with the E175 but 1 of the E195s doesn't have a morning flight yet. I have noticed that DUS is still down as for a Dash so maybe that will end up changing to an away based flight.
It does look like there is more to come from Flybe whether they be charter's or scheduled flights. As for the future i personally believe that they could go to at least 4 aircraft especially if CWL doesn't attract someone like Ryanair or Jet2 sadly i can't add Monarch to that now. Flybe have proved with Rome they are willing to go to airports that you generally wouldn't expect them to so with more based jets then other Med routes are possible and with E175s Eastern Europe may well be more of an option as well.

With the Q400 being replaced by an E175 i decided to have a look at the schedule for the aircraft in summer 18, i sampled a week in June and will put the departure time from CWL and then it's arrival time back at CWL.

There are gaps in the schedule for the aircraft.
The E175 has a gap on Tuesday which could be filled by GLA for the morning part and then a possible European destination in the afternoon with northern and southern France within range for the block time.
No 2 E195 has a big gap on Wednesday which would allow a Med route such as DBV or MLA being in range or possibly Eastern Europe as well, the E175 also has the same gap it has on Tuesdays but with the GLA flight on sale.
On Saturday E195 no 2 doesn't have any flights for the morning so could be an ideal slot for a charter to say Venice or southern France. The E175 on saturday doesn't have any afternoon flights but EDI and BHD aren't on sale so it could be used to cover them. I'd also suggest the Q400 to DUS would eventually end up a non based flight.
On Sunday E195 no 2 doesn't have a first thing in the morning departure but a 06.15 BHD departure would fit in their perfectly.

Certainly a lot of possibilities there, Jerry. It might be the case that like bmi regional Flybe uses the current gaps at weekends for flying for a tour company or companies.

The CEO of Flybe has suggested potentially more charters and for the E195s gaps i'd possibly suggest med routes with TCX dropping Mahon then that could be a candidate, another candidate could be Madrid especially as whether IB Express is returning is uncertain at the moment. I know TOM is doing Naples out of DSA for S18 and if it was a charter then it might not effect Flybe's FCO route.
With Lakes and Mountains doing so well out at the moment then i wonder if they could get backing for a weekly Geneva route in the summer from someone like Inghams and of course there is the potential for a new french route. Hopefully we'll find out soon.

On social media Flybe are saying that their summer 18 schedule should be completed and released by the end of the month beginning of November and they will be releasing their winter 2018/19 schedule at the same time.

The summer schedule up until September 9 is meant to be released at some point on Thursday, Will be interesting to see what routes do indeed fill the gaps in the schedule, where it be charter or scheduled, I'd still think something similar to SEN with DBV would work with a Balkan tie up.

Dubrovnik would fit into the gaps on a Saturday and online Flybe are saying they'll release winter 2018/19 as well.

Looks like Flybe isn't having a good day at CWL today.
E195 G-FBEM has gone tech in Dublin after fumes were reported in the cabin and it had to be followed to it's stand by emergency vehicles from Dublin airport.
    http://www.airlive.net/alert-flybe-...ublin-airport-after-reporting-fumes-in-cabin/
It also looks like E175 G-FBJA which was on its way to CDG has turned around by Swindon and is about to land back at CWL.
The Belfast flight has also been cancelled but i assume that is because of the weather.

The dust blown up from the Saraha and smoke from forest fires in Portugal have had a huge impact on aircraft today. Several 77000 squarks, fumes in cabin and diversions as a result. Not just Flybe

Flybe shares have dropped by as much as 19% due to a half yearly profit warning. The market expected pre tax profits in the range of £15 million but Flybe predicts profits to be between 5 and 10 million due to higher than expected maintenance costs.
    http://news.sky.com/story/flybe-shares-plunge-on-half-year-profit-warning-11086329

According to a poster on the other forum Flybe will have big changes in it's maintenance department leading to higher costs in the short term but it will improve matters in the long term. Though the person didn't say anything specific i wonder with their good relationship with Cardiff airport and the Welsh government if they may look at either moving into St Athan where Cardiff Aviation is (no ILS could be a problem) or get a new hangar built at Cardiff Airport if that is possible.
